madoff was just a modern day robinhood. steal from the rich, give to the ... wait. oh nevermind. yup, he was a big-time thief, but he didn't steal from people without their go-ahead. no one ever questioned him. he never had to provide financial statements. everyone who invested with him was completely suckered in by an offer that was too good to be true. ya gots to keep your wits about you. so he goes to jail. the money is gone. so what. it's just money.
